Rising energy prices have Quakertown officials looking up — to the sun
The town is considering delving into solar energy to help power its electric grid and offset rising energy costs in the future. On Monday, borough council listened to a presentation by MetroTek, a Monroe County energy solution provider, about installing as many as 37,000 individual solar panels on 30 acres of borough land off Route 663 near Winchester Drive.

Solar panels will help Tamaqua Area save even more on energy costs
According to Reiner Jaeckle, chief operating officer of MetroTek, the project will install a total of 1,600 solar panels on district-owned land. Most of the panels would be located behind the high school/middle school campus, providing electricity for both schools and the football stadium.
